Exposition Through Choices

Scribarchy encourages concise writing by enforcing character count limits on names and descriptions. It's part of the challenge—and charm—of the game. But sometimes, you’ve got more to say.
So how do you squeeze in that extra bit of world-building or backstory?
Use a Choice.
Here’s how to turn a Choice into a tiny lore dump:
-
Create a new Choice and give it a name like "Learn More About the Ruins" or "Ask About the Old War." Use the description field for the start of your exposition.
-
Go to the Configure tab. Check the Always Successful box. Leave everything else at the default.
-
In the On Success tab, use the description field to continue the exposition. Set the Team Destination to your current Place—this way, the player doesn’t go anywhere, they just get the info.
That’s it. You’ve now smuggled in some extra lore, all without breaking the flow of the game—or the character limit.
